James Morse makes Varsity Team at Pfeiffer University |
Lead | |
|
James Morse (former Thornton Academy player), as a freshman, has made the varsity team for Pfeiffer University in NC. Pfeiffer men's basketball (DII) has
been the No. 1 or no. 2 highest scoring mens basketball team in DI & DII schools in the nation each of the last nine years....in the 2008-09 season they
averaged more than 98 pts. per game. The roster of 12 varsity players was posted in school Sunday night (10-4-09). Team photos this week....official
announcement to follow soon. The final player ranking had James as the Number 4 ranked player. James will be wearing No. 12.....he earned that number in a
3-point shootoff...hitting 81 of 100. Pfeiffer will be playing a preseason game at Duke in Cameron Indoor Stadium on October 24 in front of more than 9,000
fans, including James' very proud mother, stepdad, father and grandfather.

Peter,
Thanks.....I'll pass it on to James. Pfeiffer does do webcasts of games and for those parents from "away"....they will send a DVD of each game to parents....how great is that when you're not near enough to go to many games! James will be playing an away game in MD within the DC beltway on the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend....some of us will be making the trek down to see that game too. CBS will be airing a home game on January 30 at 12 noon........here is the url http://www.gofalconsports...ticle.asp?articleID=1328

James has been and will continue to be one of my all time favorite Maine H.S players. He's a blue collar player with great physical and mental toughness.
Not to mention... He's a world class competitor who know's how to win.
Look foward to watching his progress. Woody MBNation Basketball |

Woody,
James appreciates your support. In part, his opportunities for playing basketball at college came from his having the chance to workout and practice on a regular basis, year-round, at Southern Maine Sportzone and play at major tournament venues with MBNation. At tournaments throughout New England, in PA, WV and the National AAU Tournament in FL, James was challenged as a player by some of the best basketball players and teams in the country. His basketball skills development didn't start or stop with those opportunities.........they were however important ingredients of the recipe for him meeting his personal goals in regards to basketball. Woody, Thank you for providing all the opportunities that you offer for Maine basketball players! Phil Morse |

Just wanted to add my congratulations to James as well and best of luck. It will be interesting to see if the Cameron Crazies find a way to remind him of where
his is from! I can tell you James will always be a young man I reference, when coaching other players, as an example of getting the absolute most of your
abilities. It was a lot of fun watching stronger, quicker players get continually frustrated with their inability to impact James' play. I never had a
point guard who did a better job of getting us into an offense against the top level teams, not to mention his ability to shoot the 3 ball. I also know how
tough it must be on you Phil, not to get to see the games in person. Good luck and hopefully you can get to as many as possible.
